Narrative as a
Multi-Disciplinary Tool in Family Advisory Work

Join Us for a Live Webinar:

Beyond Storytelling: Narrative as a Multidisciplinary Tool in Family Enterprise Advisory Work

July 7, 2026 from 9AM - 10:15AM Eastern

In recent years, many advisors working with enterprising families have begun recognizing that continuity challenges are rarely only structural or financial.

Questions around succession, legitimacy, belonging, leadership transition, next-generation engagement, and family cohesion are deeply shaped by narrative — both spoken and unspoken.

But what does it actually look like to integrate narrative work into family enterprise advisory practice in a meaningful, ethical, and strategically useful way?

Following a recent global study group through the Family Firm Institute, StoryKeep founder Jamie Yuenger will host a deeper follow-up session exploring how narrative methods, filmed interviews, archival exploration, and story-centered processes can work alongside governance, systems, and consulting work with families.

This session is designed specifically for professionals working in and around family enterprise systems, including family business consultants, governance advisors, family office executives, facilitators, and multidisciplinary practitioners.

Together, we will explore:

  • When narrative work becomes especially valuable within family enterprise systems
  • What story-centered processes can surface that traditional consulting methods often miss
  • How identity, inherited roles, legitimacy, and belonging shape continuity across generations
  • The difference between collecting stories and understanding family narrative structures
  • What ethical and practical considerations matter when integrating narrative work into advisory engagements
  • How multidisciplinary collaboration between consultants and narrative practitioners can deepen outcomes for families

This is not a session about “marketing through storytelling” or creating family history products.

It is an exploration of narrative as a living systems force within family enterprise life.

Participants will leave with:

  • A clearer understanding of how narrative functions within family systems
  • Practical insight into where narrative work can support existing advisory engagements
  • New language for thinking about continuity beyond governance structures alone
  • A broader view of what multidisciplinary collaboration can make possible for families

The session will include teaching, conceptual framing, examples from practice, and interactive discussion.

Colleagues and fellow practitioners are warmly welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this session designed for?

This webinar is intended for professionals working closely with enterprising families, including family business consultants, governance advisors, family office executives, facilitators, wealth advisors, next-generation advisors, and multidisciplinary practitioners interested in continuity, identity, and family systems work.

Is this session only for members of the FFI study group?

No. While the webinar grew out of a conversation within the Systems Thinking Virtual Study Group through the Family Firm Institute, the session is open to other thoughtful practitioners and colleagues working in related fields.

Will this session focus on filmmaking or media production?

Partly — but not primarily in the traditional sense.

The session will explore how filmed interviews, documentary processes, and narrative recording can function as meaningful tools within family enterprise and advisory work.

At StoryKeep, we do not view the camera simply as a device for capturing memories or creating nostalgic family histories. We often experience the filmed encounter itself as a distinct reflective environment — one that can create conditions for new insight, perspective, emotional honesty, and intergenerational understanding.

In this sense, documentary work becomes not only an archival tool, but also a relational and systems-oriented modality.

The webinar will explore how and why this dynamic can matter within continuity, governance, succession, identity, and family systems work.

Will there be time for discussion and questions?

Yes. In addition to conceptual framing and examples from practice, the session will include time for participant questions, reflections, and discussion.

Will the session be recorded?

Yes. Registered participants who are unable to attend live will receive access to the recording afterward.

May I invite others from my firm, team or colleagues in the space?

Yes. This webinar is an open learning environment for anyone who feels it may support their ongoing education as an advisor or professional supporting an enterprising family or individual.
